Q&A: to those who watch kids in their home?
Question by Live with no regrets: to those who watch kids in their home?
i am wanting to start to care for 3 kids in my homa and am looking for pointers as to how to set up my home and things that are a must.
i have been told by parents that i am not good enough for them since i dont have a day care room. that is for the kids to play and nap and keep them in there. I will be caring for only 3 kids and my baby and when school is out or evenings would be my two older kids.
I was planning to have them play and nap in my living room i have a decent sized living room and will push my coffee table to the side when the children are in my home. and will have a folding table with chairs that are kid sized, i have all things lneeded to care for a baby. and will do activities with the older kids to help learn abcs and 123s
do you have any tips for me
and any advertising tips
ps i have already looked into the licensing requirements.
if it is 3 or less kids i just ahve to be listed not licensed. that requires background checks for me an my hubby. and i am having that done i dont ahv eot hav emy home instected by state or anything unless i watch more than 3 kids
i dont have a basement or an extra room seeing that i have 3 kids and a 3 bedroom house and cant have all 3 kids sharing one room legally. i can though have toys in my nursery since that is pretty much child proofed but my living room is bigger. and hase more room. i live in a double wide mobile homw i dont have the luxary of having a 4 or 5 bedroom house with a din to turn into a play room

I think what a parent would look into a home daycare is for a Playroom-a safe room safeproofed for kids, and that it also looks like a children’s room-not just a living room.
If you have a basement, it could be your finished basement, with a shelf with toys, a little table and chairs, etc
Also you can go into your local teacher’s store to have a look around for materials and decoration, they have really cool posters, with pictures of the weather, numbers, etc etc that you can use..
As for advertising.. craigslist… make sure you post some pics of the room, also on your local grocery stores, any other community boards…that you can place an ad …
Good Luck!!
It has to look like a daycare of sorts, not like a living room…
That’s why I mentioned the basement because it’s out of the way, and it can stay the way it is…
That’s where my kids’ playa rea is at home, I dont run a daycare just have 3 children that need a place to play, my house is too small for them to run around, so the basement is their playroom.
But yes, you need a place for the children to be, that is friendly, and safe for them ….
