This is as much a song about the divisiveness of religion as it is the tragedy of war. Let’s face it, the majority of wars have a religious component. And I’m just reporting back history, so cast the first stone inward, my deadly righteous pilgrims. The Good Books engender a lot of dirty looks, that’s all. Question by Sweetpea has a pea in the pod!: Is this a good strategy for a kids room?
I read in a magazine that kid’s rooms need to be set up instations to keep them busy and make sure that they have well rounded play. This is the synopsis, they need a reading section, a music section, a pretend play section, an art section, and an active play section.
So I gave my son a bookcase full of books and some comfy pillows, a small toy piano, I am making him a puppet theater and he also has one of those city rugs, with cars, I am also making him a little table and chair, with crayons and papers, and he has a wagon and a pedal car.
Does his room sound well rounded? DO you think its a good system?
He does have some toys in our living room, but our apartment is rather small so there has to be a limit.
All his toys are neatly put away and concealed by curtains or cupboard doors at bedtime so he isn’t distracted.

Answer by Ethan’s Mommy Sounds like it to me.
My son doesnt play in his room. It us used for sleep and reading. He plays in the living room where he will have more space to play with everything. We have an extra large living room. We paint in here as well. I don’t think play should be based on one room.
Question by chicestfashion: Would you prefer good handmade furniture from the US/Canada instead of mass produced kids furniture ?
My friend and I were thinking about starting a children furniture business that makes kids storage bins…table and chairs and possibly toddler beds. (we went to college for carpentry and furniture) Would you prefer to buy something that’s high quality made here in Canada or the US even if you’d have to pay a few bucks more? Or would you prefer to buy mass produced items from overseas for a better price? Please don’t get me wrong…I’m not trashing items that are coming from overseas, but I am just wondering what people would prefer.

Answer by tardis_mom Given that kids grow out of their furniture so fast, I really wouldn’t pay extra money for “good” furniture. Sorry. Besides, I wouldn’t count on being able to hand it down to my kids, since their tastes will probably be completely different from mine. Also, lots of families with small kids don’t have a lot of money anyway, so I doubt people would pay for good furniture when they have to spend money on diapers.
Question by Daisuke: Kid problem!!!!! It’s a bit long… Anyone with good advice?
The landlady’s kid (she’s 9 i think) and her dog keeps on coming into my studio apartment to play. They start by running all over the place, bothering my Guinea Pig, mess up my furniture and bed. I already ask her nicely several times that i need to do something and she needs to go but she INSIST they will stay.
How do i approach this? I don’t want to offend the landlady but i do not want her kid to keep coming in and making a mess! I can’t even change my clothes! (imagine what she will tell people that she saw me… people will think i’m a pervert or worse)
I always leave my door wide open when she’s here so that anyone can see inside. But she’s driving me NUTS!
BTW, we are NOT close or anything. I don’t even know this kid’s name! She just starting coming in after the Christmas Party even though I’ve been staying here for half a year now.
I leave the door open ONLY when she’s already inside. She meets me at the door on my way back from work. *_*
She pushes her way in and i don’t want to lay a finger on her.

Question by Haley: What are some good teenage bedroom ideas?
Im 15 years old (16 in january)! and right now my room is painted purple, blue, and lime green. which was cool…..untill i turned like 11. the only problem is i dont know what colors to do. the thing is, i have white dressers and what not, and white carpet. my favorite colors are blue and pink. but i really dont want a little kid kind of room. and i dont want it to be too bright of a room because that just kinda screams ‘little kid’ to me, but not too dark either. idk and i really kinda want it to go with my ugly white furniture. any ideas??
Best answer:
Answer by Jennae P If you really like blue, try a nice, light shade of turquoise for the walls. It looks great with white furniture, and you can pair it with a sophisticated color like chocolate brown, lime green or purple for a more grown-up look. Take a look at this room, for example: http://www.roomstogokids.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=showRoom&roo_id=3178

Question by Sparkee: Do I have a good reason to be upset over my step son’s birthday party?
My husband and the kid’s mom made plans for a birthday party in a city a half an hour away with out even talking to me about any of it but yet I’m suposed to drive 5 strange kids from their school that they invited all the way there and back to their homes and everyone is suposed to meet at my house….in my house. I hate when she picks up the kids and she tries to come in. It bugs me and now her and her boyfriend plus like 15 other children are going to be running around and looking at my crappy furniture! I was never asked any of this, it was the mom that called me to find out what our address was for the invitations. She told me. I am so mad. I know it’s for my step son’s birthday party but it’s an aweful lot to pile on me without asking if it was ok, Right? Not to mention that when his mom is around, he clings to her because he never gets to see her, she’s always in the office and his life is with the boyfriend and other babysitters and he completely ignores us. Fun Fun Fun.

Question by LutherTM98: Where is a good place to buy inexpensive, but not “CHEAP” furniture?
I need to get furniture for my townhouse, we have a three bedroom, two bath, and two kids. My husband and I like modern styled furniture, but don’t know a good place to go to get quality furniture that will not fiberboard apart on us, yet will not break our bank account either. Does anybody know of an affordable place to get furniture for our house? We will be furnishing the kid’s rooms, our room, the living room, and the dining room. For a reference point we currently live in Virginia. We will be moving overseas next October, but we need the furniture now! A futon and air mattress is not cutting it, and the kids have outgrown their crib!
Question by Jared L: Good paint for children’s furniture?
I’m looking for a good paint for some unfinished furniture I’m buying for our kid’s room. Anyone have any good experience with something that’s safe, durable, low VOC, etc?
Best answer:
Answer by Susan M I have been happy with Behr latex paint for walls. It is remarkably lacking in odor. I am not sure what sort would be the most durable. I know that Sherwin Williams latex smells for a long time. I get migraines from smells, so odor is really important, since most ‘bad” odors and even perfumes make me sick. Home Depot has Behr and it’s sold in other places, too.
