Question by Molly R: How do I remove old stickers from glass on windows and wood furniture?
The stickers on the furniture are kids’ stickers – like Barbie stickers or something like that.

The stickers on the window are from the window manufacturer.

Stickers on glass = Razorblade. Be careful…
You might want to get one of those scrapers from home depot. It will cost you < $ 5. go there and ask and theyll show you just the thing.

Wood furnature is a bit more difficult. You will want to soak into the sticker but not the wood. So peel off any reflective non absorbing sorface of the sticker fiorst. Then apply what you decide to use to remove. DO NOT TRY TO SCRAPE OFF OF WOOD>

As john K said below, Goo Gone is all thumb up and should be in your house!

    Avon Skin-So-Soft

    HairSpray

Both of these work pretty well.

A hair dryer will loosen the glue enough to peel it away.

Theres this stuff called Goo Gone. It helps remove marks & labels.

For window: use Goof Off (it might damage wood surfaces)

For wood – dampen them with water and keep rubbing the layers off.

I had a “home remedy” book one time that told me that mayonaisse works to remove gummy things like stickers. I think you have to leave it on for awhile…it doesn’t loosen it immediately.

Get a cloth and soak it with alcohol. If you can get the alcohol to soak through the sticker it will come off glue and all. You can buy a razor knife and use it on glass but not furniture. It will scar the furniture too bad. Even with the ones on glass you will need to use alcohol after the removal to get the glue off.

Use a steam iron, it’ll come off easy.

    Well …
we just put in new windows and they ALL had those stupid reallys sticky stickers on them. I sprayed them with windex with amonia waited a just a few minutes sprayed it again and wiped it off with a paper towel.
dont even bother trying to peel of some of the paper first . just spray it right on . it will just roll right off. make sure it is really wet when you wipe it. you may have to do it a couple of times to get all of the sticky glue off but it really worked well for me. My husband was using a razor blade to scrape it off. waste of time. I had 5 windows completely wiped clean and streak free before he had even got one done. I went and sprayed what was left of his mess and wiped it right off.
As for the wood .. My daughter put stickers on her dresser once and the windex worked on that too. just don’t leave it on for a long time because it might fade your wood. try to spray it right on the sticker wait just a few seconds and wipe it off. You will probably have to do it a few times to get it all off. GOOD LUCK!

I find Goo Gone is the best product for removing adhesives. Much better than alcohol, and much safer than razor blades.

Rubbing alcohal, and your finger nails. It shouldnt damage the furniture and your finger nails wont scratch it like a razer blade will.

I agree with EQ – try Goo Gone and then some good old fashioned washing to remove any residue.

I would NOT try razor blades!

Regular nail polish remover on a cotton ball. I did this to get those decorative stickers you put on your car windows off. It works like a charm!

There is this stuff called goo-gone . Ive used it on windows and mirrors,it works great. If the stickers have been there along time it takes a little more effort to remove them, but just keep applying and rubbing and it will come off.Be careful with wood though,Ive never use it on that, check the label to see if it would be safe to use on wood surfaces.

Good ol’ peanut butter works well. Just spread a small amount and rub/wipe off with a rag. Cheap and works well.

do this just like i say to,
first thing to use your hair dryer and do this for at lest 5 minutes, going from side to side,
than with a scraper gently scrape it off little by little with the hair dryer still blowing on it as you go along, then after this is off use a glue remover and then clean it off with a window cleaner,
as for wood but don’t use window cleaner use a oil base cleaner

When I worked for a local department store we used to use lighter fluid. Just put a little bit on a paper towel. It will probably work well on the windows, but MAY take the finish off your furniture. You MAY want to try it in an inconspicuous area first.
    GOOD LUCK!!

GooGone, Its lemon scented and a bit oily. It works great on wood without damage and gets glass spottless (no sticky residue).
